Icons Too Big — Desktop

If your icons are big, but so is your text and your browser windows, the issue is system-wide scaling.

The desktop icon resizer feature allows users to adjust the size of their desktop icons. This feature will provide a convenient way for users to customize their desktop experience.

If the icons look jagged or blurry alongside being large, your screen resolution may be wrong.

If you suspect you simply zoomed in by accident, this is the go-to solution.

Apple makes it easy to customize your desktop grid through the "Jiggle" menu. (or Control-click) on your desktop. Select Show View Options . Locate the Icon size slider. Slide it to the left to make them smaller.

It happens to the best of us. You boot up your computer, perhaps after an accidental keyboard fumble or a Windows update, and suddenly your desktop looks like it belongs to a kindergarten classroom. The icons are massive, obscuring your wallpaper, cutting off file names, and making it impossible to see more than three items on the screen at once.
