Over the years, the MPC player has undergone several significant updates and revisions, with the most notable being the release of MPC-HC (Media Player Classic - Home Cinema) in 2005. This version of the player added support for additional media formats, improved performance, and introduced new features like DVD playback and H.264 decoding.

The first MPC, the MPC60, was released in 1988. It was designed by Roger Linn, a renowned musician and producer, and Dave E. Sims, an engineer. The MPC60 was an instant success, thanks to its innovative design, which combined a MIDI sequencer with a sampler. This allowed musicians to create and sequence samples, revolutionizing the music production process.
