Roll-to-Roll (R2R) processing, derived from the traditional printing industry, has emerged as the dominant manufacturing methodology for flexible electronics, organic photovoltaics (OPV), and large-area sensors. This paper reviews the transition from batch-based processing (sheet-to-sheet) to continuous R2R web handling. We analyze the technical challenges regarding precision registration, defect density, and material handling in the context of producing high-performance electronic devices on flexible substrates.
