Normally, you cannot swap equipment once a battle begins. However, you can bypass this by stripping characters of gear before combat starts, then equipping your best items (like the Rookie Egg or King's Blade) onto the active unit during battle, and removing them once the fight ends. This allows a single set of "god-tier" gear to be used by every squad on the map simultaneously.
