It is designed to provide a frictionless, "one-click" installation for developers to set up a local web server environment. However, this ease of use comes at the cost of security. The very features that make XAMPP attractive to beginners—default configurations, weak passwords, and enabled debugging tools—make it a frequent target for exploitation.
