Ghosts S01e01 Amr Jun 2026

Ghosts S01E01 is a masterclass in low-stakes, high-heart comedy. It doesn’t reinvent the sitcom wheel, but its ensemble chemistry is immediate and infectious. The writing balances snappy one-liners ("I died before pockets were invented — don't get me started") with genuine warmth. Rose McKeown's exasperated straight-woman act perfectly counters the absurdity of the spirits, while Utkarsh Ambudkar provides hilarious physical comedy as a man talking to "thin air." The episode sets up a perfect formula: the living want progress, the dead want nostalgia, and the result is chaos, laughter, and a surprisingly touching lesson about legacy. (Watch it for the basement ghosts' synchronized groaning alone.)

In this first episode, Flanagan respects the source material’s core thesis—that the house is a living, digesting organism—but changes the mechanism. Jackson’s Hill House was a place of cosmic absurdity; Flanagan’s Hill House is a machine of grief. The adaptation shifts the horror from the existential to the familial. By turning the protagonists into siblings bound by a shared tragedy, Flanagan grounds the supernatural in the relatable. The "ghosts" here are not just apparitions; they are the remnants of a childhood stolen by a father (Henry Thomas/Timothy Hutton) who forced them to flee in the night, leaving them with no closure. ghosts s01e01 amr

Great for teachers

Great selection of educational toys, tools and books for kids. Great for teachers and parents alike. Staff are knowledgeable and compassionate. It could use a paintjob, it felt a bit like a warehouse with the bare walls and minimal colour.
