This is the gold standard for adjusting mod settings in-game. Most mods with an MCM menu require SKSE to display the UI.

Many mod managers (Mod Organizer 2, Vortex) automatically detect SKSE and allow you to launch it from within their interface. Steam’s “Play” button, however, will always launch the vanilla executable.
