vSphere Replication is an extension to VMware vCenter Server that provides virtual machine (VM) level replication. It works by capturing changed blocks of a VM’s disk (delta tracking) and sending them across a standard IP network to a secondary location—either another cluster within the same site or a completely different disaster recovery (DR) site.
