Running an antique shop in the fictional town of Grandview, Melinda acts as a conduit for the dead. Her mission is simple yet profoundly difficult: she must help the ghosts resolve their lingering issues so they can find peace and "cross over" into the afterlife. However, as the series progresses, Melinda discovers that her role is part of a much larger, darker cosmic plan involving the "shadows" and the "shinings."
