The focus shifts from the Highbreed to other threats. Vilgax returns, challenging Ben to a duel for the Omnitrix. Ben also faces Albedo, who wants the Omnitrix to restore his original form. The series ends with Ben destroying the Omnitrix to prevent Vilgax from stealing it, only for Azmuth to give him the Ultimatrix (setting up the next series, Ultimate Alien ).
