"Tamper Detected" is the digital equivalent of a smoke alarm going off because you burnt toast. It is loud, scary, and inconvenient—but it proves the protection works.
In the physical world (security cameras, door sensors, smart locks), a "tamper" alert usually means someone tried to remove the cover, unplug the device, or move it from its mounted position. Most commercial security devices have a spring-loaded button on the back; when pressed against the wall, the device is "normal." When pulled away, the button releases and triggers the alert.
