Today, Vyond (the rebranded GoAnimate) has moved on. The new assets are slick, featuring modern animation tools and higher resolution graphics. They look great, but they lack the soul of the "Classic" era.

If you spent any amount of time on YouTube between 2013 and 2017, you know exactly what I’m talking about. You didn’t even have to click the video to recognize it. The thumbnail featured a character—perhaps a "grounded" Caillou or a stern-looking Boris—superimposed against a backdrop that looked vaguely familiar, yet completely empty.

It created what I like to call the It felt like a world made entirely of Lego, or a diorama in a museum. It was a place where no one had dust on their shelves, and the sky was always a perfect gradient of corporate blue. It was safe, even when the plot involved a "dead meat" threat from a cartoon parent.
