Historically, the "T" has often been pushed to the margins even within the LGBTQ+ community. In the 1970s and 80s, many gay rights organizations sought to distance themselves from trans issues to gain mainstream acceptance. However, as the culture has evolved, there has been a reckoning and a re-embracing of trans history. Today, Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) and Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) are recognized globally, cementing the community's place in the cultural calendar.
