By the late 1970s and 1980s, the church recognized the need for an update. Language changes, musical style shifts, and the need for more contemporary gospel songs led to the creation of the Himnario Adventista (often with different numbering, eventually settling into newer compilations like Aleluya in many Latin American divisions).
