She decides to make gyeran-bokkeumbap (egg fried rice) for three.
Min-seok intercepts Jin-ho outside. Min-seok: “You’re going to push everyone away until you’re alone. Is that the plan?” Jin-ho: “I am alone.” Min-seok: “Then why did you eat Ha-eun’s fried rice this morning?” Jin-ho stops walking. No answer.
“For new shoes. And better groceries. Don’t tell anyone. – J”
Jin-ho walks in. No greeting. He opens a cabinet, takes out a cup, pours water, and sits at the table. Ha-eun: “Good morning. Did you sleep well?” Jin-ho: Silence. Ha-eun (quietly, to herself): “Right. Wall.”
Min-seok’s aunt shows up unannounced. Jin-ho gets into a fight protecting Ha-eun. A secret letter from Jin-ho’s mother is found. And someone calls the police on the three “kids living alone.”
The climax of the episode sees a painful decision. Driven by a misunderstanding (or perhaps a misguided desire to protect the family from the drama his mother brings), Hae-jun decides to leave the house. The episode ends on a cliffhanger as Ju-won and Seo-hyun are left standing in the doorway, watching him walk away. The "family by choice" is fractured before it could fully solidify.
At school, Ju-won finds herself caught in the middle of her brothers' popularity. She often acts as a messenger for girls trying to give them gifts. A major conflict arises when Park Hui-ju , Hae-jun's ex-girlfriend, attempts to frame Ju-won for bullying after a physical altercation near a pond. San-ha eventually intervenes, using his sharp wit to expose Hui-ju's lie and protect Ju-won.
