Ready to stop fighting with stick figures and start designing?

Fashion illustration exists at the intersection of fine art and commercial design. Unlike classical figure drawing, which seeks to capture the reality of the human form, fashion illustration aims to idealize and accentuate the human body to showcase clothing. The "pose" is the foundational architecture upon which a collection is visualized.

The pose defines the silhouette. An elongated, vertical pose elongates the garment, often used for evening wear or suiting. Conversely, crouched or seated poses are utilized to showcase separates, streetwear, and complex draping techniques that would otherwise be obscured in a standing figure.

Capturing movement is hard. In our PDF, we break down the "strut"—where the front leg extends, the arms swing naturally, and the torso twists. Best for: Activewear, outerwear, and showing fabric movement.
