The episode ends with Rukia and Ichigo regrouping and preparing for their next battle. Rukia reveals that she will need to teach Ichigo more about the Shinigami and their abilities if he is to survive in this new world. Ichigo, determined to protect his friends and family, agrees to learn more about his new role as a substitute Shinigami.
