Unlike AAA games that have well-known "scene" releases with reputable cracks, indie games are often distributed via random file-hosting sites. There is a very real risk that the "installer" you are downloading is actually ransomware, a keylogger, or a cryptominer. The cost of a compromised computer far outweighs the price of the game.
