This paper explores the numerical composition of the anime series Dragon Ball Z (DBZ), examining the discrepancies between its original Japanese broadcast, international localizations, and modern remasters. By analyzing the production history of Toei Animation and the editorial practices of distributors such as Funimation and Ocean Group, this study clarifies the "total episodes" count. The research distinguishes between the canonical 291 episodes of the original run, the reduced 276 episodes of the edited English dubs, and the consolidated 159 episodes of the Dragon Ball Z Kai restoration. This analysis highlights how censorship, pacing adjustments, and media formatting have resulted in varying numerical identities for the same narrative work.
