Imagine a map starting in north-central Spain (Asturias). Oviedo lies inland, surrounded by green hills. The route snakes southwest, crossing the Puerto del Palo (the highest point), then descends sharply to the Embalse de Salime (a long blue lake). After crossing into Galicia, the terrain becomes greener and more rounded. The line passes through Lugo (easily spotted by its complete Roman wall) and continues southwest until it joins the crowded Camino Francés in Melide. From there, it’s a straight line west to the cathedral in Santiago.
